제 100문. 주기도문의 시작이 우리에게 무엇을 가르치시나요?
(Q. 100. What doth the preface of the Lord’s Prayer teach us?)

답. 주기도문의 시작인, “하늘에 계신 우리 아버지여”는 거룩한 경건함과(1) 든든한 마음으로 우리를 하나님께로 가까이 이끄심을 우리에게 가르치시며,(2)
어린 아이들이 아버지께 바라듯이(3), 우리를 도우실 수 있으며, 이미 도울 준비를 하고 계신 분께(4), 우리가 마땅히 다른 사람들과 함께, 또 그들을 위하여, 기도해야만 한다고 우리에게 가르치십니다.(5)

(A. The preface of the Lord’s Prayer, which is, Our Father which art in heaven, teacheth us to draw near to God with all holy reverence(1) and confidence(2), as children to a father(3), able and ready to help us(4); and that we should pray with and for others(5) )


(1) 시편 95:6 (Psalm 95:6). “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.”

(2) 에베소서 3:12 (Ephesians 3:12). “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.”

(3) 마태복음 7:9-11 (Matthew 7:9-11). “ Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”

(4) 에베소서 3:20 (Ephesians 3:20). “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”

(5) 에베소서 6:18 (Ephesians 6:18). “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints,”
